Senior Open Pit Surveyor to join our Technical Services team at our Murchison Operations on a permanent
8 days on, 6 days off roster.
This is a key role for a surveyor who enjoys leading on-the-ground survey activities, improving systems, and supporting safe, efficient open‑pit mining.
About the Role
As the Senior Open Pit Surveyor, you will oversee all open‑pit survey functions, ensuring accurate measurement, data integrity, and timely delivery of survey services to operations and planning teams. You’ll lead junior surveyors, manage survey control networks, and ensure all survey work meets statutory and company standards.
You’ll also collaborate closely with mining, geology, and technical teams to support production, compliance, and project development across site.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop the site’s surface survey control network and survey databases.
- Deliver high‑quality pit surveys, including pickups, dig block set‑outs, stockpile updates, and design control.
- Provide accurate and timely mine model updates, survey plans, and end‑of‑month reporting.
- Implement and monitor pit designs, responding promptly to deviations or compliance issues.
- Lead drone survey activities, including setup, processing, and data management.
- Maintain survey equipment and ensure all work aligns with the Mine Survey Code of Practice and WHS legislation.
- Manage and mentor junior surveyors, supporting professional development and quality assurance.
- Liaise with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and safe survey execution.
About You
Essential: - 5+ years’ experience as a Mine Surveyor, ideally with strong open‑pit exposure.
- Strong technical capability across survey control, data validation, and problem-solving.
- High computer literacy with surveying software and modelling tools.
- Strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
- Tertiary qualification in Surveying.
- Current C‑Class WA Driver's Licence.
- National Police Clearance.
Desirable: - Experience with Leica/Trimble survey equipment and drone technology.
- Remote Pilot Licence (RePL).
- Authorised Mine Surveyor Certificate (Grade 1/2) or the ability to obtain it.
